AAA Tournament Wraps Tonight

With a suspect forecast for the rest of the week, the AAA Tournament will now be concluded tonight, Tuesday, June 30.  The Redwings-Blue Rocks game is at 6:30 pm on Field 7 and the Mets-Blue Wahoos game is also now at 6:30 - on Field 6.  The winners of those games will meet for the championship immediately after the conclusion of the first games.  Thanks to the coaches and families for the flexibility in scheduling tonight and agreeing to the doubleheader format.  Good luck to all!

2015 AAA Post Season Tournament Rules

(variations from regular season rules)

  1. Tournament will be single-elimination, due to field schedule crunch at end of season.
  2. Team “seeds” for bracket were assigned by a blind draw.  Coin toss for home team.
  3. Winner and runner-up will receive commemorative rings.
  4. Complete game will be 5 innings or 1:10, whichever comes first.
  5. Tournament will be coach pitch format (not machine pitch).
  6. Minimum of eight (8) players to start the game.  A team can pick up players from another team to reach the minimum number to play.
  7. Coach shall pitch OVERHAND, with at least one foot positioned inside of the 10’ diameter pitcher circle.  The front edge of the circle touches the 30’ safety arc.
  8. Each batter will receive maximum of six pitches or three strikes.  Batter stays alive if ball is fouled on last pitch or third strike.
  9. Outs will be recorded and three outs constitutes the end of the at-bat, regardless of how many players have batted.
  10. Score will be recorded, with maximum of 5 runs per inning.  Fifth or final inning is unlimited runs.
  11. No bunting.  No infield fly.
  12. Baserunners will NOT advance on any overthrows.
  13. Rules not differentiated here are the same as AAA regular season rules as posted on MYBSA website at www.playballmcc.com.
